The Portland fashion industry is emerging and growing every day. A personal passion of mine as a Producer and small business owner, there has been nothing more exciting than watching new projects, shoots, shows, and individuals popping up on the scene who are working to make it happen in their specific area of passion. Stories to be told, images and videos to see – and a whirlwind of color, mood, interpretations, perspective, creations, and play in between – the fashion industry is truly its made up of its own magnificent ever evolving teams, projects, and productions.

As you may know – we have a history of doing Styled Out sessions where the team ventures to a cool shop in Portland to check out what’s new and get outfits styled by our in house stylist, Jillian Jewel (aka LJ.) This has been a great project, and so we are thrilled to be keeping it as a once a month post. LJ will also be sharing a new photo shoot that she will be styling once a month as a way to share new insight to projects popping up on the scene.

Another fantastic contribution to our Thursday fashion posts is our new fashion writer, Elena! Elena has been backstage and front house helping at many of our fashion show productions and has always stuck out as a hard working, bright spirit who was dedicated and excited about the growing nature of our local fashion industry. Elena will be coming onboard on Thursdays to write on street style, upcoming trends, new talent and projects…and I suspect a colorful assortment of other insights as well. We are so glad to have her and can’t wait to see what’s next…

Meet Elena

Hi friends! I’m Elena. I’m a little bit awkward and a lotta bit shopaholic, it’s so nice to meet you! More importantly, though, I’ll be dropping by here every couple of weeks to share things like street styles, trends, styling tips & inspiration, and other different findings from the fashion world. Let’s start with some basics, yes? I’m 21 years young and I live with two of my very best friends in a sweet, little apartment tucked away in NW Portland. My current day job is attending The Art Institute of Portland for a Bachelors degree in Fashion Marketing with a minor in Sustainability [simply put; fashion business and environmental friendliness!]. On the side, I do a lot of local, freelance wardrobe styling. I also participate in a company called Student Stylists (studentstylists.com), an agency that books students for different styling and design jobs. I am head-over-heels in love with Portland and its energy, passion, and sense of community, especially in our fashion industry. I’ve lived here for about three years now and have been lucky enough to meet a number of amazing people in this industry. Those people, a shit ton of hard work, and a serious passion for what I do have all led me…well, right here! I can’t even tell you how excited I am about this new adventure and where it might take us all. I hope you’ll stay tuned and tag along for the ride!
